October 2014 Ipsy Bag Review

Ipsy is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription bag. Each month you get full size or deluxe-sized products, plus a super cute makeup bag. I am sad to say that this month will be my last month receiving this subscription. I really do think it’s one of the better beauty subscriptions out there, plus it’s a great way to build up your makeup collection for pretty cheap!

The reason I decided to move on to another subscription is because I wasn’t liking all the things that I was getting in my bags and the points you get just don’t really amount to anything. I think Birchbox is better over all for beauty and lifestyle items, but don’t worry, I have taken on another subscription in the place of Ipsy. Keep an eye out for a new subscription box. 🙂

Now let’s get into the review of this month’s Ipsy Bag.

This month the Ipsy theme was Beauty Candy. I didn’t like the theme really or the videos that they had on their channel to go along with it. I did like the bag and I think I may be using it for my wedding day as it totally matches my accent color! 🙂

noyah lipstick in the color “Deeply in Mauve”  – 0.05 oz – Value $0.56

This color is pretty dark. I’m not a fan of the dark fall colors as they wash me out, but I do like that it has blue undertones. I didn’t put on a lip moisturizer underneath and it didn’t really drag which makes for a nice lipstick. I may give this brand a try again, but probably not this color.

Indie Lee Brightening Cleanser – 0.5 oz Value $4.00

I’m all for trying new cleanser’s but I feel like that is all I get in my boxes anymore… The smell is okay on this one, but it smells like something from my childhood, like a childlike strawberry. I do like the way my feels after using this, but I have a good regiment that I probably won’t get a full size of it.

Fig & Rouge Rose Berry Hand Cream – 20 ml – Value $2.50

I like how light this lotion is, but I’m not a fan of the scent. This will go in my sample stockpile. 🙂

ECRU New York Acacia  Protein BB Cream – 1 oz. – Value $12.00

I used for a few times and I’m pretty iffy about what I put in my hair because I know what works and what doesn’t but this seemed to work great. I will probably use up the sample then decide if I want to get a full size.

Jesse’s Girl Mineralized Baked Powder Eyeshadow in color “Graphite Frost” – FULL SIZE! – Value $3.99

This is actually my first time trying a baked eyeshadow and I am pleasantly surprised. I really like how this goes on to the eye. I’ve tried silver shadows before and they can be crazy dark, but I really like this one because it’s not at all. I will have to check out the other colors.

Was it worth it?

It was $10 for the bag and actually got about $24 worth of products. It was worth it for price, but I wasn’t in love with any of the products, thus why canceling my subscription. It was a good run and I may join back up again someday, but right now, it wasn’t worth it for me.

This is not a sponsored post. I pay for this monthly subscription and all the thoughts/opinions are my own.

  1. Katy, I have had trouble with my eyes and makeup in the past. This brand did make my eyes a bit sore by the end of the day. I would recommend that you try Root Pretty makeup (http://www.rootpretty.com). They are exactly like bare minerals, but they have ALOT less additives than BM… actually, they have none. You can buy samples of their foundation for $2. If you email them(Krista), I’m sure she would send you some samples of eyeshadow at that price. She is a Warburg grad too and lives in Waverly. 🙂 I am going to be doing a blog about them soon. I’m hoping to get down there to tour her business. She has grown SO much because of social media. It’s awesome!! I swear by all their makeup AND it’s priced very well.
